Shayne Metcalfe

I create postmodern speculative narratives that blur the lines between prose and poetry, documentary and fiction, performance and place. My work explores identity, memory, and the fluidity of time through nonlinear storytelling, often shaped by rural vernacular and the visual language of comics and film. 

As an artist and educator with decades of experience in Canada’s arts and screen industries, my practice bridges teaching and creation. I move across mediums — from experimental video and documentary to theatre and graphic narrative — always grounded in collaboration and community. My art informs my teaching, and my teaching feeds my art.
